Obama: Already Plagued with Scandal and Corruption
Filed Under Conservative Side of the Story, Crime, Obamarxist | 1 Comment

If I read another fawning kissy-face news report about the “brilliant Obama” and how masterfully he’s handling a presidential transition, I’m gonna’ puke. Are they watching the same transition that I have?
Let’s just recap quickly the setting for the scandal and corruption plaguing Obama now:
- Obama buddy, the current Governor of Illinois (Blago) is arrested by the feds for, amongst other crimes, trying to sell Obama’s senate seat
- Obama good friend and fund raiser, Tony Rescko, now a convicted criminal is in jail and singing like a bird about his past criminal activities
- Obama’s chief policy advisor, David Axelrod has deep ties to Blago
- Obama’s incoming Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, is knee deep in the Blago Senate seat investigation
Obama’s team conducted their own investigation, released the results on Christmas eve, and more or less tell us that they did nothing wrong so we should essentially take their word for it… and that is pretty much what our socialist media has done… ‘Obama says he’s clean, that’s good enough for us’ has been the media response.
Then we find out, again on Christmas eve, through no real help from the socialist media, that Obama had to testify before Patrick Fitzgerald for over 2 hours on the Blago matter… 2 hours! This from AP:
Obama had to answer investigators’ questions
In the midst of two wars and an intensifying economic meltdown, Barack Obama had to take time off last week to answer questions from federal prosecutors investigating charges that the governor of Illinois had put the president-elect’s former Senate seat up for sale.
With his own lawyer by his side, Obama sat down Thursday with U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald’s staff to tell what, if anything, he knew about Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s efforts to cash in on appointing Obama’s Senate successor.
For Obama, swept into the presidency on a promise of new politics stripped of past corruption and scandal, the interview was a fascinating revelation in a report that, as promised, said neither he nor anyone on his transition team did anything wrong.
Did that story lead news headlines anywhere? I found it buried in a couple small city newspapers, but that’s about it. Maybe I missed the equivalent of the massive media hype that implies wrong doing whenever a Republican politician has to testify before the Feds. Did we hear the media obsessing over the soon to be President testifying under oath on the Sunday shows?
Then, when the Blago scandal seemed to be dying down just a tad, Blago purposefully picks a obscure black Chicago politician that he knew would induced a racial fight amongst the Democrats in the House and Senate about allowing Blogo’s pick to be seated.
As if all that is not bad enough, Obama’s pick for Commerce Secretary, Gov. Bill Richardson has had to withdraw his name due to the fact that he is under a federal grand jury investigation about allegations of a pay to play scandal of his own. This from the NY Times:
Richardson Won’t Pursue Cabinet Post
WASHINGTON — Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico, President-elect Barack Obama’s choice for commerce secretary, withdrew from consideration for that job on Sunday, saying a pending investigation into whether his administration gave lucrative contracts to a political donor would have “forced an untenable delay” in his confirmation.
What a mess! But don’t worry, this is the best managed transition to the presidency ever according to our discerning media. Hmmm, for some reason I don’t quite recall all these problems when either of the George Bushes were elected, or Ronald Reagan… maybe it’s just my poor memory…

Surprise! With Lower Gas Prices, Libs Call for Higher Taxes
Filed Under Conservative Side of the Story, Strategery, Taxes | Leave a Comment

Alright, with our Christmas/New Year break almost over, we’re back to beating back the liberal assaults on capitalism and liberty. This story caught my eye while on vacation, as it is perfectly illustriative of the liberal mentality (such as it is)… this from the AP:
Motorists’ habits spur call for tax increases
WASHINGTON – Motorists are driving less and buying less gasoline, which means fuel taxes aren’t raising enough money to keep pace with the cost of road, bridge and transit programs.
That has the federal commission that oversees financing for transportation talking about increasing the federal fuel tax.
A 50 percent increase in gasoline and diesel fuel taxes is being urged by the commission to finance highway construction and repair until the government devises another way for motorists to pay for using public roads.
The National Commission on Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing, a 15-member panel created by Congress, is the second group in a year to call for increasing the current 18.4 cents a gallon federal tax on gasoline and the 24.4 cents a gallon tax on diesel. State fuel taxes vary from state to state.
In a report expected in late January, members of the infrastructure financing commission say they will urge Congress to raise the gas tax by 10 cents a gallon and the diesel tax by 12 cents to 15 cents a gallon. At the same time, the commission will recommend tying the fuel tax rates to inflation.
The commission will also recommend that states raise their fuel taxes and make greater use of toll roads and fees for rush-hour driving.
Ahhh the insatiable appetite of big government for more of your money. We are told from the Obamarxist that this is the worst economy since the Great Depression, yet government keeps growing bigger and bigger, demanding more and more of your money to feed the beast.
Just a few months ago, when gas prices were at their peak, we heard from the liberals that we needed to increase gas taxes to change consumers driving habits and fund new “green initiatives” (whatever the hell that is). Now that prices have come down, giving hard working Americans a little bit of room to breathe, they want a 50% tax increase on our gas usage, and worse yet… they want to make future tax hikes automatic so that the gutless wonders on Capitol Hill don’t have to vote for future increases.
The Republican party leaders (such as they are), should make this a huge issue if the libs are brazen enough to attempt to institute these huge tax increases. If more money is needed for roads and bridges, find that money somewhere else in the $3+ trillion dollar annual budget. The American people are taxed enough damn it!

Caroline Kennedy: Dumber than Harry Reid

We’re officially on Christmas break, but I had to jump on and comment on the latest Caroline Kennedy “interview”. Here she is in her latest interview with the NY Times. You have to listen to the audio found in the left sidebar down a bit in the article, top audio link labeled “I’m a traditional Democrat”
Holy Cow… she makes Sarah Palin look like Albert Einstein. Folks, I wanted to hold out my opinion on this Kennedy until she actually came out and spoke to the media about the issues she believes in… now that she has, I have to say that she’s so dumb, if she fell down, she’d start eating grass.
Please God, let Gov. Patterson nominate this debutante…

Entitlement Nation: Will Healthcare be the Next “Freebie”?
Filed Under Evils of Socialism, Healthcare, Our Socialist Media | Leave a Comment
- Scott Miller
What is it about healthcare that makes many Americans think they shouldn’t have to pay for it? Seriously? Ask many Americans whether they think it should be free for all Americans, and many will say yes. Ask them the same question about a car, and the answer is usually quite different.
So what is it about healthcare? Why do so many Americans think they shouldn’t have to pay $500 a month on their health, yet they are very willing to pay $500+ a month on their BMW car payment. It defies logic…
Smart Money ran a piece a bit ago that was meant to be somewhat of a sob story, but I pissed me off because it is really a case in point on how many Americans have developed such an entitlement nation mentality:
The Hidden Costs of Retiring Early
When Bill left the workforce in 1996, the Thompsonsknew enough to factor health expenses in to their plans—after all, Bill was a property- and casualty-insurance executive. But since then Bill’s annual premiums have almost doubled, and Mac’s have more than tripled. The couple spent more than $32,000 out of pocket on health care in 2007, and such expenses have led them to put off other splurges. They’ve been slow to buy new cars and join the local country club. The insurance bills “put a major crimp in our lifestyle,” admits Bill.
On the individual market, early retirees can boost their odds by shaping up and losing belly fat before applying. It’s also worthwhile to go over their medical record with their physician, to correct and update diagnoses that turned out to be inaccurate. The effort to keep a clean record, however, can curdle an early retirement even before it starts. Pat Gulliford, a 53-year-old IT manager in Phoenix, hopes to retire in two years, but the wait is getting literally uncomfortable. She wants to get surgery to remove fibroids, noncancerous growths in her uterus, but she’s holding off because an insurance agent told her the operation could torpedo her applications. The current plan is to retire, get the insurance, then get the surgery. “I’m a conservative,” Gulliford says, “but going through this process makes me want socialized medicine.”
Unwilling to give up on cashing out, some young retirees have found insurance through professional associations, fraternities or even their churches. But faced with the crazy-quilt patchwork of health care options, others have had to accept some pretty big compromises. Bill and Mac Thompson, for example, are itching to move from the Jersey Shore to their golf-course home in Sarasota, Fla. But for almost a decade, they have spent most of the year up north with their clubs because Mac, who has a rare skin condition, can’t get insurance in Florida. While they’ve waited for Mac to qualify for Medicare, they’ve watched the value of their Ocean City home plummet in the real estate slump—eroding their net worth and making retirement even more challenging. Bill says with a chuckle, “I never dreamed I’d be held captive in New Jersey.”
Like I really feel sorry for an early retiree who decides to put off the purchase of the new Beemer for a year because they have to pay for their healthcare. And this so-called self-described conservative saying that she’s willing to abandon private healthcare because she might have to pay for her surgery is truly incredible. But this is what we are dealing with folks, and you can bet that we’ll hear hundreds of media driven sob stories as the statists, and their willing accomplices in the media, try to ram socialized medicine down our throats next year.
The only thing they won’t tell us is… there is no such thing as a free lunch…

Nanny-State Libs Find More Way to Hike Taxes
Filed Under Conservative Side of the Story, Our Bloated Pig Gov't, Taxes, The Economy | Leave a Comment
- Scott Miller
In a country where government, at all levels, spends over $5 trillion of our tax dollars - almost 1/3 of our total annual GDP - one would think that we would be looking for way to lower spending and a reduce the tax burden on all Americans… unfortunately, not where Liberals pull the strings of government.
Example, New York State, a state where the voters chronically vote against their self-interests, and continuously back the most liberal amongst themselves… they are in one heck of a budget dilema. This from the AP:
NY gov proposes tax on drinks, downloaded music
ALBANY, N.Y. – Gov. David Paterson’s first state budget threatens to affect just about every New Yorker. Even those online.
Paterson proposed Tuesday a 2009-10 budget that would increase spending by 1.1 percent, or $1.3 billion, to create a $121.1 billion spending plan.
Much of the growth is revenue from 88 new or higher fees and will hit New Yorkers in many areas, from downloading music to sipping drinks to fishing.
One of the proposed hikes is a so-called “iPod tax,” which would tax the sale of downloaded music and other “digitally delivered entertainment services” by 4 percent.
There also would be higher taxes on gas, taxi rides, cable and satellite TV service, cigars, beer, movie and sports tickets, and health spa visits, to name a few items.
Paterson seems to be fighting both obesity and budget deficits with a proposal for an 18 percent tax on soda and other sugary drinks containing less than 70 percent real fruit juice.
“People don’t really realize the amount of calories they’re ingesting through liquids,” said Joe Baker acting deputy secretary for Health and Human Services to the governor. “They say, ‘Oh, it’s just a drink.’”
The idea is to discourage consumption of high-caloric beverages — health officials estimate a 5 percent drop — and to raise $404 million in fiscal year 2009-2010 toward the state’s multibillion dollar budget gap. Paterson said the proposal would raise $539 million in 2010-2011.
Isn’t it amazing how in a time when so many people in NY are hurting, can barely make their mortgage payments, and real estate tax payments, that Gov Patterson still proposes to INCREASE the state’s budget? If you listen to the Obamarxist, he would have us believe we are in the worst economy since the Great Depression, yet the Libs in NY still want to grow government.
Seriously folks, the liberal’s thirst for our tax dollars is insatiable. In good times, they grow government. In bad times, they grow government. They are a one trick pony of big government, and nothing will get in their way in their quest to control every aspect of our lives.
Notice how the liberals are always so much smarter than us pee-ons… just listen to how they talk. “People don’t really realize the amount of calories they’re ingesting through liquids”… or in other words, people are too stupid to realize what they are drinking, therefore us enlightened liberals in government have to step in and discourage the idiots from drinking Coke and Budweiser.
I’d say I feel sorry for you suckers in New York, but since you seem to be glutants for punishment by electing Democrats to represent you, I’d say you are getting the government you deserve.

As we enter the Christmas holiday, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank the brave men and women fighting on our behalf overseas. We realize that it is extremely difficult for the men and women of our armed forces, and their families, to be away from their homes during the Christmas season… so we wanted to simply say THANK YOU to all those serving away from home. May you all be safe, and come home soon. Gods Speed.
We also want to thank all our readers for their support this past year. As we close in on 2 years of conservative commentary, we conservatives have our work cut out for us. But we are up to the enormous challenge, and we’ll fight the libs and their horribly misguided views where ever we encounter them.
We’ll be a bit slow on the posting over the holiday break… gonna get away to the beach for a while… but just wanted to say, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year to all! Thanks again for your support!

Can America Side-Step History?
Filed Under Conservative Side of the Story, Evils of Socialism, Taxes | Leave a Comment

Below is a reprint of excerpts of a very though provoking piece posted of Seeking Alpha:
How We Can Avoid Another Tragic Ponzi Scheme
Our country was created with a Constitution that attempted to insure tyranny that occurred under British rule could not happen in the United States. Truth and freedom of speech are essential for a Republic to thrive. In the last two decades, facts and reality have been obscured, twisted, manipulated and obfuscated by our government, corporations, investment professionals and media. The Big Lie can be perpetrated by states, corporations, or individuals. The multitude of lies has made Americans increasingly dependent. The State gains more power as citizens become more dependent.
The following quote attributed to Scottish history professor Alexander Tyler in 1787, seems to portray an accurate reflection of what has occurred during our 200+ years of existence as a democracy.
“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”
The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondageThese words were written two years before George Washington became our first President. There is so much truth in these words it makes me shudder, especially since we are clearly in stage 7. An honest appraisal of our country’s downward spiral is necessary to begin the process of redemption. We have continually voted ourselves increased benefits, dependent upon the printing presses of the Federal Reserve to sustain our country’s ponzi scheme. We have pawned our future and the bill will eventually come due.
There is much more to this piece, some of which I disagree with, but the author’s point about what stage our country is in is spot-on. With over 40% of the American people paying ZERO in income taxes, we are at the point where we are dangerously close to tipping towards the tyranny of the majority. When our pols exploit the class envy of the under-educated to build a permanent dependant voting block. Where the libs throw just enough scraps to the masses to keep them down and ever-reliant on government’s “generosity”. Scary stuff folks, scary stuff…

Look to Reagan for Solutions to our Current Economic Problems
Filed Under Conservative Side of the Story, Our Bloated Pig Gov't, Taxes, The Economy | Leave a Comment
- Scott Miller
With all the stories of economic doom swirling in the media today, and with the corresponding ever-increasing size of the liberals spending plans on a so-called “stimulus” package now heading towards $1 TRILLION, we thought it would be appropriate to look to the man who brought our country out of a recession at least as bad as this.
Here is the great Ronald Reagan in his first inaugural speech, addressing the problems American were dealing with in an eerily similar economic recession (save high inflation and interest rates, which we don’t have today) starting at 3 1/2 minutes into the clip :
”Government is not the Solution, Government is the problem.” How true it was back then, and how true it is today.
While it took almost 2 years for Reagan’s small government, tax cutting, capitalist policies to fully work into the economy, the results were stunning… the longest peace time economic boom in American history. Obama would do well to learn the lessons of Reagan, and abandon his current course of believing that government is the solution, not the problem.

ObamaNation: Lost Liberty and Cradle to Grave Governance
Filed Under Conservative Side of the Story, Evils of Socialism, Healthcare, Strategery | Leave a Comment
- Scott Miller
John Adams, 1775 in a note to Abagail Adams
“Your Description of the Distresses of the worthy Inhabitants of Boston, and the other Sea Port Towns, is enough to melt an Heart of Stone. Our Consolation must be this, my dear, that Cities may be rebuilt, and a People reduced to Poverty, may acquire fresh Property: But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrender their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the Government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it… “
It is really quite stunning to ponder. How far we have strayed from our nation’s founding principles (ordered liberty, rugged individualism, limited government, self reliance, etc). How soft we have become as a nation. How low our threshold for any pain has become. How little the American people know about our nation’s founding, and the principles that this nation was founded on. How so few Americans truly understand our history. How our founding fathers risked literally everything (life, property, wealth, even family) to fight for their liberty… that same liberty that today we so quickly abandon to stave off the pain of the equivalent of national stubbed toe.
This is what has been so disappointing about president Bush’s wholesale retreat from free market capitalist principles with these trillion dollar bailouts. But in truth, it’s not just president Bush who is ready to abandon our founding principles at the drop of a hat… too many Americans are standing with Bush in his folly. Phil Graham was 100% correct when he said this past summer that Americans are largely a nation of whiners.
As John Adams wrote during the dark days of the revolutionary war, Liberty once lost is lost forever. With the election of Barack Obama, and his radical nanny-state government plans, I fear that we are now on the fast track to voluntarily surrendering more of our liberty to government than ever before.
Obama plans for cradle to grave government control of our lives are truly the greatest threat to our liberty as any we have faced. Once government has control over your health (big government universal healthcare system), then they essentially have control over your life… whether you get the treatment you need, and ultimately whether you live or die.
But Obama isn’t satisfied with complete control over your health, he wants government control over the earliest aspect of American’s lives. This from the NY Tlimes:
Obama Pledge Stirs Hope in Early Education
CHICAGO — It was the morning after the presidential election, and Matthew Melmed, executive director of Zero to Three, a national organization devoted to early childhood education, could barely contain his exultation.
Mr. Melmed fired off an e-mail message to his board and staff, reminding them of President-elect Barack Obama’s interest in the care and education of the very young and congratulating Mr. Obama for campaigning on a “comprehensive platform for early childhood.”
“People are absolutely ecstatic,” said Cornelia Grumman, executive director of the First Five Years Fund, an advocacy group. “Some people seem to think the Great Society is upon us again.”
Now that new initiatives seem likely, experts are debating how best to improve America’s early childhood system, which they call fantastically fragmented, unconscionably underfinanced and bureaucratically bewildering. Some hesitate to use the word “system” at all.
“It’s a patchwork quilt, a tossed salad, a nonsystem,” said Libby Doggett, executive director of Pre-K Now, a group that presses for universal, publicly financed prekindergarten.
Listen to the words of the liberal, folks. Listen to how ecstatic they get when the begin talking about “The Great Society”… every liberal’s wet dream of government intervention into our liberties. It was the so-called “Great Society” that gave us the massive Ponzi schemes of our entitlement programs that are bankrupting our country.
Notice also, the Statists single-minded drive for a national “system” for everything. Their insatiable thirst for top-down, central planning control over our lives… much like Stalin’s Russia. They abhor the founders insistence on Federalism, and the constantly scheme to undermine Federalist principles.
Folks, the Statists are deadly serious about their plans for instituting socialist principles in every aspect of American government. They see the next 2 years as their best hope to ram though massive socialist programs that they know that once place they will be difficult, if not impossible, to get rid of.
This is why conservatives must prepare to fight, with everything we have, the against the central planners putting together the ObamaNation designs on American society.
