Dumber-than-Soap Pelosi in her finite wisdom just redefined the term “rich” to mean households earning $1 million+… thus undercutting decades of liberal efforts, beginning with Bill Clinton, to dumb down the term to the $250,000 of household income level. This from the USA Today:
Pelosi seeks to spare middle class from health care tax
WASHINGTON — Ensuring that the middle class doesn’t have to pay the $1 trillion-plus price for overhauling the nation’s health care system will mean trimming billions of dollars in “fat” out of the current health care system, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told USA TODAY’s editorial board Tuesday.
“I wanted to remove all doubt that we were not touching the middle class on this,” Pelosi said, explaining why she has advocated in recent days for a higher income threshold for taxes proposed in the House version of the health care bill.
House Democrats are considering a $544 billion tax on families that earn more than $350,000 a year, but Pelosi wants to raise the income threshold to $1 million for joint filers.
But wait, the democrats have been saying for weeks that they were only going to raise taxes on the “rich”, and they defined “rich” as $250,000 in household income, to pay for healthcare welfare. Now Pelosi is saying you have to be a millionaire to be classified as rich… which means that any household earning under $1 million is now considered “middle class”… which means that Comrade Obama is planning on raising income taxes on the middle class next year when tax rates for those making just $250,000/year will head higher.
Don’t you just love the tangled web the Statists weave for themselves when they play class an identity politics to pit one group against another… I’m sure Comrade Obama appreciated the Speaker’s latest comments.
