Let’s face it. Obamacare is not “healthcare reform” in any shape, manner, or form. It is quite simply a brand new massive government welfare entitlement program. As bad as that sounds, that’s not even the most insidious part of Obamacare… what’s worse is that Obamacare will destroy the most advanced healthcare system in the world.
You see folks, when Comrade Obama and his fellow Statists in the Democrat party talk about how they have to reduce costs in the healthcare system, what they are really saying is that they have to nationalized the entire system so they can implement price controls. “Cost” = “Price Controls” when you hear the central planners describing their plan.
Once price controls are implemented, the profit motive, the engine behind capitalism, is destroyed. When the profit motive is removed from all things related to healthcare, private companies are forced to close their doors. When that happens, healthcare innovation drastically declines.
So here’s a simple question… when have price controls ever worked? The answer is simple to any honest, thinking person… they don’t. Never have, never will.
The biggest problem for the central planners is that their existing welfare entitlement programs, medicare and medicaid, are essentially bankrupt. Like any government entitlement program, waste, fraud, and abuse are prevalent, and the government bureaucrats who run these programs are largely incompetent and inefficient. It also doesn’t help that the programs are designed similar to Madoff-like ponzi-schemes, where payments are made to existing members, and funds to make those payments are generated from a new pool of victims.
If you have been paying attention to Comrade Obama over the past few weeks as he’s been talking about the reason that the government should nationalize healthcare, he’s been almost singularly focused on the looming costs of the existing healthcare entitlement programs, and how Obamacare will fix the cost issue. Unfortunately when one looks for examples of cost containment using similar programs like Obamacare, one finds the exact opposite happens… costs explode, they don’t go down.
Just using one’s own common sense now… think about the logic for a minute. Our existing healthcare welfare programs are going broke. Government has done a horrendous job managing these programs. Yet the Statist solution to the problem is take over the entire healthcare system… because they will get it right this time around… just trust us. It’s sort of like putting a tax cheat in charge of the IRS… uhh… never mind…
