John McCain is a man of strong principle, right? He’s the “straight talk express” dude… the guy that would just assume lose the election than back down on a position of principle. Yeah… rrrighht. This from the AP:
Schwarzenegger Puts Muscle Behind McCain
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger endorsed Sen. John McCain in the Republican presidential race on Thursday, praising him as an “extraordinary leader” who can reach across the political aisle to get things done.
“Governor Schwarzenegger is an exceptional governor and we are honored that he has decided to endorse Senator McCain, and look forward to the event tomorrow,” said Steve Schmidt, a senior McCain adviser who managed Schwarzenegger’s 2006 campaign.
So McCain thinks Governor Schwarzenegger is an “exceptional governor”, and yet Governor Schwarzenegger is a vocal supporter of time tables for withdrawal in Iraq. This from News Max:
Schwarzenegger Wants Iraq Withdrawal
Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger has aligned himself with Democrats in calling on the Bush administration to set a clear timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq.
Speaking on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” on Sunday, the California governor said Americans won’t support a war that involves an open-ended commitment and threatens to become a Vietnam-like quagmire.
“We should let the Iraqis know that we are here until this time, and then we’re going to draw back,” Schwarzenegger said. “We’re going to draw our troops out of Iraq. I think a timeline is absolutely important because I think that the people in America don’t want to see another Korean war, another Vietnam war, where it’s an open-ended thing.”
How can this be? How can Mitt Romney be the devil incarnate for specifically not calling for time tables for withdrawals, and yet at the same time, the lib Governor Schwarzenegger is an “exceptional” Governor? Could it be because he’s not opposing the lib Senator from Arizona?
