Barack I’m-a-lover-not-a-fighter Obama is a foreign policy illiterate. One would think that the guy would spend…like 15 minutes at least… boning up on foreign policy issues before he decided to run for President.
His latest flip-flop was on his pledge (that we have on tape) that he would meet with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venuzuela, and Cuba without preconditions. This from Reuters:
Obama says won’t guarantee Ahmadinejad a meeting
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (Reuters) – Democrat Barack Obama underscored his willingness to talk to leaders of countries like Iran that are considered U.S. adversaries but said on Monday that does not necessarily mean an audience with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
McCain has criticized that view, saying that sitting down with someone like Ahmadinejad would give the Iranian president a spotlight and send the wrong signal to U.S. allies such as Israel.
Iran does not recognize Israel’s existence and Ahmadinejad has called the country a “stinking corpse.”
“There’s no reason why we would necessarily meet with Ahmadinejad before we know that he was actually in power. He’s not the most powerful person in Iran,” Obama told reporters while campaigning in New Mexico.
So back in the debates, Obama said it was ridiculous for the Bush administration not to meet with the leader of Iran, now he’s backtracking on his pledge to do so…
This is just the latest of his foreign policy flip-flops regarding Iran. Earlier in the week he says Iran is “tiny” and doesn’t pose a serious threat, and then THE VERY NEXT DAY says that the threat from Iran is “Grave”… huh? Here he is in his own words (email viewers go here):
