Let’s just say it’s been an evolving process… from the very beginning Obama has been defending his pastor, and his church, as they have been exposed as hate-mongering, anti-American, and racist.
Then as the heat became a bit too much, Obama gave the ‘most important speech on race relations’ in Philadelphia. In that speech, he defended Rev. Wright and threw his “white grandmother” under the bus. Here he is in his own words (email viewers go here):
Then as weeks go by and the Rev. Wright issue, combined with his elitist smears of regular heartland folks, caused Obama to get his ass kicked in Pennslyvania, and West Virginia… he finally throws Rev. Wright under the bus (email viewers go here):
But that didn’t seem to quell the contoversy of Obama’s associations with this racists church, and this issue dogged his campaign. Then another Trinity church issue… this time a visiting white priest, who just stepped down from an Obama group “Catholics for Obama”, at the pulpit… (email viewers go here):
Well, this latest racist episode from the pulpit of the church he attended for 20+ years seemed to be too much trouble for his campaign to take, and finally, today, he threw the whole damn church under the bus. This from the AP:
Obama quits Chicago church after long controversy
ABERDEEN, S.D. – Barack Obama said Saturday he has resigned his 20-year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago “with some sadness” in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by his longtime pastor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and more recent fiery remarks at the church by another minister.
“This is not a decision I come to lightly … and it is one I make with some sadness,” he said at a news conference after campaign officials released a letter of resignation sent to the church on Friday.
“I’m not denouncing the church and I’m not interested in people who want me to denounce the church,” he said, adding that the new pastor at Trinity and “the church have been suffering from the attention my campaign has focused on them.”
Obama said he and his wife have been discussing the issue since Wright’s appearance at the National Press Club in Washington last month that reignited furor over remarks he had made in various sermons at the church.
Here we go again… Obama trying to be too cute by half… he’s resigning from the church, but not denouncing the church? If there is nothing inherently wrong with the church, a church that is a black seperatist church by the way, then why resign? Sooo, let me get this straight… it looks like Obama is against a church that he really is for… huh???
